No, the KT301P is intended for breaker identification only. It cannot trace full cable runs or locate wire breaks. For that, a cable tracer is recommended.

This tool does more than an other brand that i own. Read the manual carefully. Practice with it. How you hold it in relation to the breaker is important. The tester is handy for checking receptacle wiring and testing Ground Fault Circuit Interrupters. If the ground pin is up you can still read it by the lights or pull it and read then reset.
I received my circuit breaker finder and I tested it. It is really a great product something I should have in my tool box. It has a tester for your GFCI test as well as regular outlet in addition to circuit breaker finder. It is all in one tools.
This is a great tool for finding that plug/light that you have no idea what circuit it is on. I moved into a house several years ago that had a poorly labeled panel and still to this day when I run across a plug or light I've not replaced before I need to play the guessing game as to what breaker it is on.This works great for that purpose and saves me a lot of time and random breaker off/on guesses. I wish I'd of had this tool when I first moved in as it would have saved me a lot of time.
I ended up gifting this to my brother as he was having trouble reading the indicator lights on his old outlet tester. The breaker finder tool at least narrowed it down to 4-5 potential breakers, however this was tested on a very cramped 70 year old 100A breaker panel. It may work better on modern full sized 200A panels!
Minor complaints, that with a bit of thinking on the user end can work around.The outlet device faces one way, so if you have an outlet with the ground on the top (like every outlet I've installed in our home) you can't read the display. Solution: a 3' extension cord. Not ideal, and I'm not sure if it affects the data at the breaker, but it's what I've got for the moment.When using the detector at the breaker, I've noted that it doesn't want to really hone in on the specific breaker. It narrows down to a very small range. But as long as you keep that in mind, and work with a partner, you can stay safe.The NCV on the detector isn't very sensitive. You have to get RIGHT in there. Best if the outlet cover isn't on the outlet. I had several false negatives in which you'd think there was no voltage, but I knew better.
